The Laurel Police Department has been employing officer worn body cameras since 2012. The camera is worn on the chest area and it helps to provide a recording of incidents from the officer's point of view and can provide valuable evidence in criminal cases. Videos cannot be altered or edited in any way. The majority of patrol officers are equipped with the Taser Axon Flex cameras and will notify you that you are being recorded.
Our program has been covered extensively by local, national, and international media and has served as a model for other law enforcement agencies nationwide. For more information on the program, contact Sgt. Jesse Conyngham.
