Mayor Craig A. Moe is honored to announce that another magnificent monument will be dedicated in the City of Laurel’s Memorial Garden on January 18, 2019.
The new monument will immortalize the great works and writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Currently in the Memorial Garden, we have a memorial for those lost at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Another monument that remembers and honors those Veterans who gave their lives for the freedoms we all enjoy. There is also a very personal memorial in the garden to honor City employee Marcus Colbert, tragically lost to us almost two years ago. We are especially proud of the very first monument unveiled in September 2016, the 9/11 Memorial.
This dedication will coincide with our Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance Wreath ceremony. Mayor Moe and City Council President Fred Smalls invite everyone to the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, on January 18th at 4:00pm.
Mayor Moe will begin the program dedicating the memorial and will say a few words about the importance of this event, followed by members of the City Council. Community residents will be on hand as we place the Remembrance Wreath, along with City Employees.
It’s a humbling tribute and we hope to see you there!
