***Passport processing times are 10-13 weeks for normal processing

and 7-9 weeks for expedited processing.***

Processing times begin the day the application is received at a passport agency or center.

 

 

PLEASE NOTE: The City of Laurel Passport Office does not process the DS-82 Renewal Application (Adults coming off a 10yr passport), which is a Mail-In Only Application.

 

 

Laurel's Passport Office is open by Appointment Only!

When booking your appointment, please be aware that:

  • When Booking your appointment, you DO NOT need to book a separate appointment for pictures.
     
  • We DO NOT take photos of infants. Only children that can sit on the stool and follow directions to face the camera on their own.
     
  • If you are unable to make your appointment time, please be sure to go back into our booking system and reschedule your appointment for another time OR call us to cancel.
     
  • Be sure to check your emails before your appointment. We will send a reminder email, along with everything you will need to bring to your appointment with you.
     
  • Make sure you show up ON TIME for your appointment. We recommend you arrive a few minutes early. If you are late, we will have to move onto the next applicant and you will need to make another appointment!

Before you come into our Passport Office at your Appointed Time, make sure you have EVERYTHING with you or you will need to make an appointment for another time. Be aware that not every scenerio may be listed, so after reading the requirements below, please call our Passport Office, 301-725-5300 ext. 2193, and ask us your specific question(s)!

For Adults (16 and older):

  1. DS-11 application filled out in Black Ink Only (you can print out the application here> https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/forms.html) before you come in for appointment, do not sign until in front of an agent
  2. Original birth certificate or naturalization certificate
  3. A copy of your original birth certificate or naturalization certificate
  4. A copy of your ID (Driver’s License, State ID Card or Military ID) front and back
  5. Passport Photo
  6. Adult Fees below

For Minors (15 and younger):

  1. Both parents and child(ren) must be present
    If other parent is not in country or unavailable and parent is on child’s birth certificate, the absent parent will have to fill out a DS-3053, get it notarized and, along with a copy of the absent parent’s valid ID front and back, the absent parent will need to mail it to the parent that will be coming in with the child(ren) since the State Department does not accept copies of the DS-3053.
  2. DS-11 application filled out in Black Ink Only (you can print out the application here> https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/forms.html) before you come in for appointment, do not sign until in front of an agent
  3. Passport Photo
  4. Original or Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
  5. Copy of Birth Certificate
  6. Copy, front and back, of valid IDs for parents (must be Driver’s License, State ID Card, current Passport or Military ID and cannot have the statement “Not For Federal Purposes” on the top of the ID)
  7. Minor Fees below.

We DO NOT process these forms.

Fill out a DS-82 in Black Ink Only (you can print out the application here> https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/forms.html), sign and date it, attach a new photo and mail it to the address on the application depending on how fast you want your passport(There is an address for ROUTINE service as well as for EXPEDITE service). Place the passport you are renewing and a check or money order made out to the US Department of State, along with the filled-out application, in the envelope. We recommend using USPS Tracking, so you will know when the passport application arrives at the State Department facility.

  2. Bring a Passport Photo
  3. Bring the current Passport
  4. Bring a copy of your Birth Certificate
  5. Bring a copy, front and back, of valid (must be Driver’s License, State ID Card, current Passport or Military ID and cannot have the statement “Not For Federal Purposes” on the top of the ID)
  6. Adult Fees below.

You will have to go through the process of coming into our facility. You will need:

  2. Original birth certificate or naturalization certificate
  3. A copy of original birth certificate or naturalization certificate

First, Fill out a Lost/Stolen form. Then you’ll go through the process like you are getting a passport for the first time.

There TWO separate fees when coming into our facility:

  1. Passport Fee:
    1. Adults: Check or Money Order (made out to US Dept. of State) for:
      1. Routine Service (up to 13 weeks): $130 per application
      2. Expedite Service (up to 9 weeks): $190 per application
    2. Minors: Check or Money Order (made out to US Dept of State):
      1. Routine Service (up to 11 weeks): $100 per application
      2. Expedite Service (up to 7 weeks): $160 per application
  2. Processing Fee (Only if you have to come into facility):
    1. Adults AND Minors: Credit Card or Money Order (made out to City of Laurel) for $35 per application (We are no longer accepting CASH)

Drug stores like CVS and Walgreens take Passport Photos.

If you would like the photo to be taken at our facility, the cost is $10 for each photo and the cost would go onto the processing fee form of payment. (We DO NOT take photos of infants. Toddlers that can stand up on their own and older only) You DO NOT have to make separate appointments for photos when coming in to process their application (the photo is included in the block of time you sign up for when applying for a passport).

We can make copies of the documents for you, but we will charge $1 per copy and that fee will go onto the processing fee form of payment.

Go to the State Department’s website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/forms.html and print out the forms you need and fill them out BEFORE you come in for your appointment.

Application Fees

There are two (2) separate fees paid by the applicant to obtain a passport.  The first fee is the “application” fee paid to the U.S. Department of State and the second fee is the “processing” fee paid to the City of Laurel.  The “processing” fee is a non-refundable payment made to the City of Laurel.  This payment is retained by the City of Laurel whether or not the passport is issued by the U.S. Department of State.

Payment Methods

  • Personal checks and money orders are the ONLY accepted payment by the U.S. State Department
  • Cash, credit and debit cards CANNOT be used for U.S Department of State application payments
  • Visa/MasterCard credit and debit cards CAN be used for the City of Laurel processing payments
  • Money Orders payable to the U.S. Department of State may be purchased with a debit card, but not a credit card, at U.S. Postal Facilities
  • Checks or money orders must draw on U.S. financial institutions based in the United States and be payable in U.S. dollars.
