Emergency Services Commission Meeting Minutes
June 16 2021, 2021

Vice Chairman Davis called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m., with the following members virtually present:

Chairman Fred Carmen was unable to log in to the meeting.
On a motion by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Dzwonchyk, the minutes of the April 14, 2021, were approved on a unanimous roll call vote of all the members present.
Darrell Smalls started a presentation about the Community Resiliency Program, which was interrupted when he was disconnected.
Vice Chairman Davis asked Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jim Codespote about his staffing concerns. Chief Codespote discussed staffing. He said that they do struggle with staffing during the weekends. They have staff transferring in from other stations to help out.
No resolution was reached.
Darrell Smalls reconnected and resumed his presentation. He wanted to seek the support of the Commission in championing a capability assessment of critical community resource capabilities.
Commissioner Dzwonchyk suggested reaching out to the Boys and Girl Scouts as part of community involvement.

There was no one present from the following departments to make a report: Department of Public Works, Department of Parks and Recreation, Risk Management Office, IT Department.
Vice Chairman Davis opened and closed the General Public hearing at 8:15 p.m. with no one wishing to speak.
The next meeting was scheduled for August 18, 2021 at 7 PM.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by Vice Chairman Davis, seconded by Commissioner Dzonchyk the meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
