2023 City of Laurel General Election
The City of Laurel General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The election is for one (1) Mayor and five (5) City Council seats. The Board of Election Supervisors will hold a hybrid election.
Councilmember Seats: Two (2) from Ward 1, two (2) from Ward 2, and one (1) At-Large. Councilmembers serve for a two (2) year term. Qualifications for City Councilmembers are:
City Councilmembers shall be persons of known integrity, experience, and sound judgment, twenty-one (21) years of age, citizens of the United States, registered to vote in City elections, and residents of the City and the ward for which they seek election for one (1) year immediately preceding the date of their election.
The Mayor serves a four (4) year term. Qualification for Mayor are:
The Mayor shall be a person of known integrity, experience and sound judgment, not less than twenty-five (25) years of age, a citizen of the United States, shall be registered to vote in City elections and a resident of said City for the two (2) years immediately preceding the date of his or her election.
Early Voting – Saturday, November 4, 2023. Voters wishing to cast their ballots early must do so at the voting ward that they live in. Polls open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at:
- Ward 1- Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707
- Ward 2- Robert J. DiPietro Community Center- 7901 Cypress Street Laurel, Maryland 20707
Election Day – Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Voters wishing to cast their ballots in person on Election Day must do so at the voting ward that they live in.

Mail-In Voting
Voters in the City of Laurel also have the option of Mail-In Voting. Voters who would like to vote by mail must submit an application to request a Mail-In Voting Ballot and return it to the Board of Election Supervisors at 8103 Sandy Spring Road Laurel, Maryland 20707, either by regular mail or drop it off at the Laurel Municipal Center in the lobby drop box. The application can be downloaded using the link below. However, please note that the application must have the voters’ original signature, so applications cannot be returned via email.
Voters may designate a duly authorized agent by any signed writing to the effect (Complete Designation of Agent Form) or if the voter is unable to sign the designation, then the application shall bear the applicants mark and the signature of two (2) witnesses.
All Mail-In Voting Applications shall be received by the Board of Election Supervisors by Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
