NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 2, 2021
The City of Laurel will hold its General Election on November 2, 2021. The election will be for five (5) City Council Members: Two (2) from Ward 1, Two (2) from Ward 2 and One (1) At-Large.

Due to the on-going COVID-19 public health emergency and the start of flu season in Prince George’s County and the City of Laurel, the Board of Election Supervisors have elected to proceed with a Hybrid Election for the upcoming General Election.
The Hybrid Election will include the following voting options:
- Vote by Absentee Ballot
- Early (In-Person) Voting on Saturday, October 30, 2021, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Laurel Municipal Center
- Election Day In-Person Voting, Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
*Please Note: Masks will be required for all in-person voting and in compliance with all Prince George’s County and City of Laurel restrictions and CDC guidelines.
Absentee Ballot Applications will be mailed the week of September 27, 2021, to each registered voter. Voters wanting to vote by absentee ballot must fill out the application and then return it to the Board. The Absentee Ballot will then be mailed to the voter. The voter has the option of returning the ballot in the mail or by using a secure Ballot Drop Box.
Secure Ballot Drop Boxes will be under 24/7 video surveillance at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, and the Robert J. DiPietro Community Center located at 7901 Cypress Street, Laurel Starting on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021.
Early (In-Person) Voting will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.- Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel.
Election Day In-Person Voting, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

At the close of the polls on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the Board of Election Supervisors will tally the results of the electronic voting machines and announce the unofficial results. Canvass of the absentee and provisional ballots will start at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in the Council Chambers at the Laurel Municipal Center. The Board will announce the official results of the election at the conclusion of the canvass.

City of Laurel Charter - Sec. 310. - City Council.
City councilmembers shall be persons of known integrity, experience and sound judgment, not less than twenty-one (21) years of age, citizens of the United States, registered to vote in city elections and residents of the city and the ward for which they seek election for one (1) year (three hundred sixty-five (365) days) immediately preceding the date of their election. Each councilmember shall hold his or her office for two (2) years from the date of the second regular meeting after the election in November of the year of his or her election and until the qualification of his or her successor. A councilmember shall remain a resident of the city, within the ward from which they were elected and must remain a registered voter within such ward, unless elected at-large, while holding office.
All voters shall register in accordance with the laws, rules and regulations of Prince George's County. Every person who is registered with the County Board of Elections and is a resident of the City of Laurel shall be entitled to vote in all City elections.
Qualified residents of the City may obtain a Maryland Voter Registration Application at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. You may also access voter registration information at the State Board of Elections at www.elections.state.md.us or the Prince George's County Board of Elections at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov
