  1. Annual Board Elections 2018
    1. As detailed in the Ordinance, all board positions will be up in October:
      1. Chair/ Vice Chair/ Secretary/ Co-Secretary (optional)/ Treasurer
  2. Artist Block Fair on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 from 1 – 4pm (Melissa)
    1. Pass around sign-up sheet to help
    2. 29 artists/craftsmen signed up to date – includes 3 performing groups
    3. Publicity – Leader story (Kelsey), need electric City signs (Joanne), dedicated email (Christian?)
    4. Event oversight (Melissa) –
      1. Friday set up of spaces – Christian and Leigha
      2. Saturday set up and mgt – Melissa, Steve, Kelsey
        1. Sound supplies and which City will supply – Steve
        2. Site and artist oversight and needs – Melissa
    5. LAC Table (Kelsey, Alisa, Christian, John, Cheryl, Marilyn? and others? Should have at least 2 members at the table at all times)
    6. List of needed items and who will supply
  3. Laurel Historic District Commission – report on results of mtg (Kelsey and Cheryl)
  4. Bench Project (Cheryl)
    1. Report on workshops:
      1. One glazing workshop completed; one glaze firing completed
      2. One make up glazing session to be scheduled.
    2. Now need to choose new site
  5. Tile mural project – update and needs (Cheryl)
    1. Art teacher at Pallotti High School wants to collaborate on mosaic mural.
      Alan Ernstein is a glass artist and has 6 Art Academy students who can
      work with him to design and build panels.
    2. How do we access grant money to buy materials?

  7. Ellicott City Fundraiser – update on when Mayor will present check to E.C. (Leigha)

Ok, looks like this addresses how to handle donations and incoming funds, but I guess the group needs to work on “criteria for use of funds and the administration of grant funds”.

 

The Ordinance also directs that the council develop guidelines and procedures for Arts Council meetings. These are samples that other commissions are using:

 

“The Commission shall meet at least quarterly. Such meeting shall be open to the public. The Commission may utilize executive sessions when necessary and when allowed by to the State Open Meetings Law.”

 

“The committee meets at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Maryland bi-monthly or at any other time as set by the Chairperson and as necessary.”

 

“The Committee meets regularly each month, in the Laurel Municipal Center at 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD.”

C,D,E,F in the “Duties and Responsibilities”, are being met through all the activities and events LAC has participated in.
