SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

An employee in this position uses manual labor to perform unskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature in an assigned area of responsibility. Assigned areas can include collection of household and commercial refuse and recycling as well as construction, maintenance and repair activities of roadways and related structures; installation and maintenance of traffic controls; planting, pruning and maintaining trees and landscaping. An individual hired as a Laborer I will be non-competitively promoted to Laborer II upon completing six months of satisfactory City service in the position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School diploma or GED from an accredited school or at least one year of related experience in refuse collection or roadway maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the essential requirements of work. Must have the ability to acquire certification as a Registered Flagger and FEMA ICS 100 and 700 certifications.  EOE

 

 

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL examination, INCLUDING DRUG SCREEN, AND A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
